3 Things Every Worship Leader Should Know

- You can't take people to a place you have never been.  You can't express what you have never  felt.  When you know the presence of God, it will no longer be about what your presence can do in a room.  It will be about what His presence can and will do while you are in the room!  When you truly invest into getting to know someone, you invest into their heart and they invest into yours.  The benefit?  A genuine relationship.  If you learn to invest in knowing His presence, your relationship with Him will be evident.  You are who you surround yourself with, so surround yourself with His presence!

"Surely the righteous will praise your name, and the upright will live in your presence." (Psalm 140:13 NIV)

- Think about this:  when your phone rings and it says "Dad", maybe you get excited.  What makes the call truly from your dad?  It is not the name on the phone, for all you know it could be your mom using your dad's phone.  What makes it truly a call from your dad?  His voice.  The moment you hear his tambour, there is no doubt it's him calling.  How do you know your fathers voice so well?  You've heard it for many years!  You've been in communication.  Talk to God.  Listen to His tambour when He speaks.  He has called you to be a worshiper and placed you in  leadership to release and speak what He wants to say.  If you don't know His voice, you won't have direction.  As worship leaders we must learn His voice so we can lead people every time to a place of genuine worship.

“Listen, my people, and I will speak" (Psalm 50:7 NIV)

- Think of your heart for a second.  It's a well of emotions.  It's so fragile, yet it was created to specifically pump life into your entire being.  The heart of God does that for you and I.  When you know what's in His heart for you, it gives you life!  If you can discover what He feels for you and the plans for you, then the ten or thousands of people you lead in worship will get to encounter His heart through you!

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." (Matthew 5:8 NIV)
